Concept & Logo

“Samana” is a Sanskrit word
meaning “harmony.”

Inspired by the grandeur of nature, local
cuisine, hot springs, and regional culture,
the hotel is thoughtfully designed to
incorporate the unique charm
of its destination.
Through every aspect of the guest experience,
visitors can feel the harmony
that defines the place itself.

Created to welcome everyone,
from individual travelers
to families and groups,
Samana was born as a hotel brand
chosen by those who
wish to immerse themselves
in the character of a destination and share
special moments with their loved ones.

Logo Design

The logo is inspired
by the shape of Yakushima Island.

Within the design, three elements,
Culture, Nature, and People,
are interwoven to symbolize
the harmonious relationship among them,
expressing the spirit of “Samana” (harmony).

The logo incorporates three core elements

samana Fund

The Samana Fund was established to support
environmental conservation efforts
in the World Natural Heritage
Site of Yakushima,
as well as initiatives that contribute
to local communities.

Inspired by the desire to work together
with our guests to consider
and protect the natural environment,
we kindly ask for a contribution
of JPY 200 per adult per stay.

The donations received are used
to help preserve
Yakushima’s irreplaceable natural environment
for future generations,
supporting projects such as mountain trail
maintenance, the conservation
of sea turtle nesting habitats,
and coastal beautification activities.

Organizations Supported
by the Fund

Yakushima Mountain Guide Association

Mountain guides on Yakushima face a variety of challenges in helping visitors safely enjoy the island’s natural environment. In Yakushima, guides not only lead visitors through the mountains but also take part in trail maintenance and environmental conservation activities.

Since 2021, the association has been working to protect the forest environment through traditional forest management techniques. These efforts include ongoing maintenance of mountain trails and other initiatives aimed at preserving Yakushima’s natural environment.

Yakushima National Park Partnership Group

The Yakushima National Park Partnership Group was established in 1996 with the mission of protecting Yakushima’s rich natural environment and promoting its appropriate use.

Donations support a wide range of activities carried out within Yakushima National Park, including environmental education, nature conservation programs, visitor services, cleaning and maintenance of facilities, and the management of outdoor learning opportunities.
